On a crisp October afternoon in southern Vermont, the trees seem to burst into laughter. Smiling Trees captures a hillside swept in fiery color—golden birch, crimson maple, and deep green pine all mingling in celebration beneath a clear blue sky. There is no mistaking the mood: joy. Pure, exuberant joy. This image is a love letter to autumn’s wild generosity. It invites the viewer into a moment of delight, when the world appears to be smiling back. The foliage is not just beautiful—it feels alive, expressive, welcoming. Smiling Trees reminds us that happiness, too, is part of the sacred—that nature doesn’t only whisper in stillness but can shout in color, in radiance, in the heart-lifting beauty of a single day.
